“To me there’s no creativity without boundaries. If you’re gonna write a sonnet, it’s 14 lines, so it’s solving the problem within the container.” – Lorne Michaels

I suppose this is the best place to start - the container.

About three years ago I made a jar for my daughter. She was moving into her first apartment and she was, in my opinion, too young to live alone. But she did not agree and she moved into a tiny apartment.

I believed I was a terrible mother and she was trying to get away from me. You see, I'm incredibly self centered.

I wanted her to know every single day that I love her, that my love would always be there. I wanted her to love her home but never forget that she was my child and I would always exist in her space.

The idea I had was to give her my love. So I made a JAR FILLED WITH LOVE. It was an old relish jar, not very large and I filled it with crochet hearts.

I learned how to crochet a heart and I repeated that pattern in every type of yarn that I had. I made large ones, small ones pink ones and red ones -  there were a lot of hearts. I sealed the jar and put a tag on it that read A JAR FILLED WITH LOVE.

She smiled when I gave it to her. That was all I needed

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT

Since then I have made jars for friends to commemorate occasions and holidays. One friend complained “there is no christmas magic anymore” So, I made her  A JAR FILLED WITH CHRISTMAS MAGIC

She smiled too.

Some of more recent JARZ include

JAR FILLED WITH APPRECIATION

A JAR FILLED WITH PUPPY LOVE

A JAR FILLED WITH MY LOVE OF COFFEE

A JAR FILLED WITH MY HAPPY PLACE

TEACHER SURVIVAL KIT

Thus was born JARFULLZ

Welcome to my journey. Let me know how I can make you smile TOO!
